P is for Pastor & Prayer!
The week before last we studied the letter P. Since we were studying the letter P, we decided it would be fun to walk over to the church and visit FBC's pastor, Bro. Chuck Williams. We went into his office and talked with him about what it's like to be a pastor and what a pastor's job is like. Bro. Chuck told the students all about another "p" word: prayer. He showed them his prayer bench that is in his office and showed them how he knelt on it to pray. They all wanted to do it too! It was the sweetest thing because they each audibly said a prayer when they were knelt down. It was such a blessing to hear them pray. I count it joy to be able to teach these children each day and work at a school were Christianity and prayer is not only talked about, but also practiced!

Love Day!
We had such a fun day yesterday! There was lots of candy, lots of love, and lots of fun! We decorated our bags to put all of our goodies in. We ate Valentine's cupcakes, heart cookies, and chips during snack time. We also had fun sorting our conversation hearts into colors and counting to see how many we had of each color. Your child brought home both of those papers in their binder. I hope your little "Love" came home from school excited and happy with a bag full of treats from their friends! :)
V is for Violin!
Bro. Jeremy, Music Director at First Baptist Church, visited with all the 4 year old classes on Wednesday. We were studying the letter V this past week, so he played his Violin for us! The students were very interested and enjoyed hearing him play!

Letter G Week
We had a busy week with the letter G! Ethan Copeland, an 8th grade student, brought his guitar to play for the PreK 4 classes. He strummed "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and all the students sang along. The PreK 3 classes studied letter P this week and had a pig come to visit them. Even though we weren't studying the letter P, we couldn't miss out on the opportunity to meet Rufus the Pig! Apparently, Rufus is a bit of a local celebrity. He made an appearance on Rock 103 Memphis Radio Station on Friday morning. He was also on News Channel 5 at 5:00 Friday evening to predict who he thought would win the Super Bowl. :)

Hibernating Animals!
We "hibernated" our animals in our classroom cave last Friday. This was a fun way to help the kids to understand the concept of hibernation. We talked about different animals that hibernate, why they hibernate in the winter, what they do when they hibernate, and sang songs about hibernation. Since yesterday was Groundhog Day, we decided to let our animals come out of hibernation. We also talked about Groundhog Day, watched a short video on it, and sang songs about it. We had a fun day of learning!
